CEO of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Donates Cadiothocograph to UCC Hospital

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra, Dr. Daniel Asare, has donated two sets of Cadiothocograph and their accessories valued at $20, 000 to the University Hospital.

Speaking at the presentation, Dr. Asare indicated that he was particularly concerned about maternal and neonatal mortality and therefore, his decision to support  UCC Hospital.   He said the equipment was used to record the fetal heartbeat and the uterine contractions during pregnancy. “Cadiothocograph helps to ensure that the health of the woman and the unborn child are in a good state” he explained

Pay attention to Maternal Mortality

Dr. Asare who is the immediate past CEO of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH) noted that though the COVID-19 pandemic was currently national focus, it was important to pay attention to other long term medical issues like maternal mortality. “Wherever I find myself, I make sure the maternity unit is well equipped because the health of the pregnant woman and her unborn child is very vital,” he indicated.

Gratitude

The Director of University Health Services (DUHS), Dr. Evans Ekanem, in his response, expressed gratitude to the CEO of Korle Bu for showing true love. “I am overwhelmed by the generous gifts my brother has blessed us with and it shows his passion for humanity,” he added.

Dr. Ekanem gave the assurance that the equipment would be put to good use and maintained regularly. He also indicated that arrangements would be made to train midwives and other staff on how to use the equipment to enhance delivery at the Maternity Unit.
